We're excited to announce the arrival of our new Pastor, Barry Forder, his wife Joy and their two young daughters on 1 January 2012. Barry comes to us after serving as Assistant Pastor at the Deal Christian Fellowship, Kent for the last 9 years. He's had a long association with Calvary Portsmouth and worked with our retiring Pastor, Ron Matsen, on his programme on Genesis TV.

Barry is committed to 'pastoral care of the fellowship and the teaching of the Word of God. The faithful verse-by-verse teaching of the Word is mandatory and essential, but unless accompanied by pastoral care, becomes little more than “as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal” (1 Cor 13:1-3)'.

 

Pastor Ron Matsen and his family are emigrating to New Zealand to take on new work there with Koinonia House.

We praise God for Ron's leadership as Pastor/Teacher of Calvary Portsmouth. It was his vision to set up a church devoted to verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter study of the Bible in South East Hampshire in the early 1990s and Ron has faithfully taught us since then, during which time many have grown in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Saviour and gone on to serve Him around the world.
